Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley (125 cases produced)

Sand Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Award Winner

BEST OF CLASS Award for Cabernet Sauvignon in $80-$99 price range

The much-anticipated 2020 Cyrus Creek Cabernet is a jewel with a striking balance of fruit and complexity.  Elegant aromas of briar and cassis combined with the complex minerality for which Diamond Mountain District cabernet is so renowned. The complex mouth feel with juicy meats, cedar box, and dusty tannins leaves a silky lingering finish.  Modestly herbal, a wonderful mineral note shines through the whole experience. Layered complex, and lingering, a true wine drinking experience.  This is a wonderful wine ready to drink now or the next five to seven years.  For optimal appreciation, its best opened at least one hour before serving.

The Bianco Family has been making wine from grapes grown in our vineyards adjoining the historic Cyrus Creek for over five decades.  This Cabernet Sauvignon is produced entirely from the renowned Clone 4 variety which is particularly suited to the austere volcanic rock and gravel of our east-facing hillside vineyards.  The result is a wine of finesse and elegance.  Only two hundred and twenty five cases were produced.  We hope you enjoy this wine as much as we enjoyed making it for you.

For over a decade, Cyrus Creek Vineyards has produced but one wine, our well-received and always scarce Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 4. However, for the 2021 vintage our gifted, and award winning fourth generation wine maker, Massimo Monticelli, who has been responsible for the great success of our previous vintages decided that in addition to the traditional Cabernet Sauvignon, he would produce one barrel of Cabernet Rose. The hand-culled fruit arrived at the winery in virtually perfect condition; small-berried, deep black-blue in color and loose on the clusters, all coveted characteristics of Diamond Mountain clone 4 cabernet. The first 60 gallons of the precious free-run juice was set aside for immediate fermentation into Rose.  The fermentation period was long and unhurried extending over a period of 12 weeks.
